Description
As a Remote Area Nurse – Director of Nursing, you will lead the delivery of primary health care services within a remote community health clinic. These clinics are non‑inpatient facilities, providing essential care to local communities and surrounding outstations or remote properties.
You will work with a high level of autonomy while remaining supported by a broader clinical and organisational network. The role includes clinical leadership, operational oversight, and hands‑on patient care.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide clinical leadership as the Primary Health Care Director of Nursing
- Deliver comprehensive primary health care services within a remote clinic setting
- Support the health needs of local community members and surrounding regions
- Manage day‑to‑day clinic operations and clinical decision‑making
- Respond to emergency presentations and coordinate emergency care
- Participate in on‑call rosters as required
- Work collaboratively with visiting health professionals and support services
- Deliver culturally safe and community‑focused care

- Primary Health Care clinic (no inpatient beds)
- Monday to Friday roster with on‑call requirements
- High level of clinical autonomy

Requirements
Demonstrated experience in Remote Area Nursing
Previous experience in a Director of Nursing role or senior clinical leadership position
Current, unrestricted AHPRA registration
Bachelor of Nursing (or equivalent)
Current Advanced Life Support (ALS) certification
Completion of Remote Area Nurse training, including:
Remote Emergency Care (REC)
Maternal Emergency Care (MEC)
Immunisation
Pharmacotherapeutics
Strong clinical decision‑making and leadership skills
Ability to work autonomously in remote and culturally diverse environments
